Most of these stories are about how exclusive discord servers make fandom, regardless of how well-intentioned people are when creating them. You can't include every writer in your small community server. We need to start doing more outside of them again.

someone I follow on the bird app just announced they’re starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they’re reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic

I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS

I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there’s 10,000 other people that will continue…but if you participate in a fic “book club” server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?

the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don’t rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit “post”

Ruggie's father is possibly only ever referenced in one line in the entire game, where he says:

my dad went out to scrounge up some money one day and never came back. No idea where he is or what he's doin' now.

That is possibly where this rumor is coming from, and as there is no other official information available it is as valid an interpretation as any!

But, you are correct: "Ruggie's father abandoned their family" is not canon :>

While Ruggie has maybe never said anything else about his father he has repeatedly said things about his home and, specifically, how dangerous it is:

The most important thing on the savanna is to never let your guard down. If you do...you'll be someone's dinner!

As a result, there are also theories about how he might have been fatally injured when someone tried to rob him, or he stole from someone dangerous when trying to provide for his family and now is being hunted and can't return home, or he died from overwork, etc :<

Without any further details from the game itself all interpretations are equally plausible! Maybe we will learn more one day?

What sort of personality are the characters drawn to?

Jin is drawn to someone with a strong enough personality that they can withstand his abrasive nature. Someone with a backbone.

At the same time, he doesn’t mind people who will do what he tells them to, no questions asked. Sometimes following orders on a dime is a matter of life and death.

He’s drawn to people who have high self esteem and good self confidence. Jin can be rough with his words sometimes and his partner needs to be able to withstand that to a certain extent.

I think he would also be drawn to someone who knows what they want in life and is willing to work for it. It would be nice if they weren’t afraid to ask for help from him on occasion as well. It makes him feel needed and wanted.

Thoma is drawn to hard workers. He’s got a busy life himself so he needs someone who’s used to a fast paced day.

He also needs someone loyal and passionate in his life. He seems to have a lot of conflicting loyalties, including loyalty to himself so he needs to be able to trust whoever he’s in a relationship with.

I can see him being drawn to someone who is quick witted and has some degree of intelligence. Whether it’s book smarts or street smarts, he doesn’t have a preference, just so long as they’re able to demonstrate intelligence.

He would also be drawn to someone who is observant and empathetic. Someone who can recognise the signs of burnout and give him a helping hand when it's needed.

Luca’s a tricky one. I see him as someone who falls for someone slowly based on their personality and actions rather than seeing a few things and being drawn to someone.

I do see him being drawn to loyalty and honesty. These are both traits he values highly in himself and others so it’s necessary that his romantic partner has them as well.

Luca would also be drawn to people who speak their mind. He’s not the best at social cues so being with someone who can say how they’re feeling clearly means a lot to him.

A mothering personality would also attract Luca. He’s a bit of a mum friend himself but it’s nice being on the receiving end sometimes.

Okay, we’ve got to address the elephant in the room for this one. Kaito is definitely going to be drawn to appearance initially. If you’re conventionally attractive, he’s going to be fawning over you.

Personality wise, he’d be attracted to someone who enjoys having fun. As long as that fun’s not life threatening, he’s happy to tag along and have some fun too.

I see Kaito as someone who would also be drawn to someone who has a lot of energy. He’s got the reserves to keep up and he enjoys seeing people making the most of life.

Kindness is another thing that draws Kaito to people. If you’ve got a soft heart, he’ll find himself wanting to make sure he’s the person you think of most fondly.

Hi Puts, thank you for answering my ask on the reaction from Japanese fans. It's understandable that all of us are left with mixed emotions. I do wonder if you're going to post the link (if you manage to get it) of YKL21? It pains me that Keiko isn't there but a part of me also wants to see how the arrangements are done to accommodate her absence. I want to see if YKL will be able to create those magical harmonies now that their backbone to those sounds is no longer there. I admit to being a little resentful in this regard, and it's probably because I've been listening to her music for years, and have come to admire YK that I truly feel disappointed with her decision. I hope she realises sooner than later how vital Keiko is to the YKL sound and that Keiko is a human and vocalist who has her own sets of aspirations to fulfill. Hello there!! Before I get to your ask, I'd like to make a general announcement, don't worry, it's not specifically related to you or your message but rather to the entire issue at hand.

A quick heads-up to all of my followers and lurkers:

First of all I'd like to apologise to everyone who has sent an ask on this matter and still hasn't received a reply. I decided to take a break from all of this during the weekend since it was getting mentally draining and I started to seriously neglect some of my real-life responsibilities. Also, if at this point I've not posted a response to your question/message regarding the current situation, then it is likely I never will. Throughout the course of last week, I got way too many repetitive inquiries, I'm sorry to say that I just do not have the time or patience to answer every single one of them. I strongly urge people to just go through my relevant tags (#kalafina reunion, #space craft, #yuki kajiura) and thoroughly inform yourself before you send anything. Trust me, I covered the topic quite extensively and I don't believe you will be left with many (if any) unanswered questions once you have browsed through everything! Then I received a bunch of messages from people who clearly just want to argue with me and I am honestly so tired of them. I've made my stance perfectly clear and I think I have been fair in my assessment. On top of that, I've invested a lot of time clarifying my arguments and discussing the matter in the reply section of my posts. At some point, it's just enough. You don't need to agree with me, it's your prerogative to have a different opinion but there's no point in trying to sway my opinion, you are really just barking up the wrong tree. There are more than enough spaces in this fandom where your thoughts and arguments will be very much appreciated, you do not need to waste your time on my blog. To make a long story short, if you insist on painting Space Craft (and by extension Wakana, Keiko, Hikaru) as the ultimate and sole villain in this shit-show of a situation while simultaneously pretending as if Team Yuki isn't equally at fault for perpetuating all the petty hostilities and stupid rules of this everlasting feud, then I'm sorry to tell you, this is not the right place for you. Re: Anon's Message

Now that all the above stuff is out of the way, I can focus on your message, dear anon. First, let me clarify something. It's 100% okay to be invested in Yuki's activities and to be curious about her future projects. Despite my arguably controversial thoughts on Yuki's role in this feud, I certainly don't want anyone to "cancel" her or to "boycott" her lives in any way. Please continue to love and support her, especially if you've been her loyal fan from the get-go! No one has to ever feel the need to justify their interest in Yuki to me, your devotion is completely valid.

As for me, I stand by what I've always said, I am first and foremost a Kalafina fan, therefore, this blog only covers stuff that is at least somehow related to them. If none of the girls are involved in a project, I am not really motivated to invest my resources into it. People reading my live reports should know that Wakana's absence has already taken away a huge chunk of my enjoyment of YKL, with Keiko gone too now, I just don't see the appeal anymore. Both of them were such an integral part of these live performances, at least for me. There are songs of course that work without them (and those will continue to sound amazing) but I've always enjoyed a majority of music in Yuki's lives BECAUSE of Wakana and Keiko. Their renditions are not the be-all-end-all in this world (often not even the original) but they are the definitive versions engraved in my mind so everything else just doesn't feel right to me.

In short, I will likely not be covering any of the YKL Vol#21 news or provide content related to it. Unless of course there are some surprise changes to the lineup but that's very unlikely. If they end up covering Kalafina songs (Yuki is saying something about having different suites in her lives so the inclusion of a Kalafina-suite is certainly possible), I might consider posting about it but I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it.

You don't need to worry though, I think there are lots of very passionate YK stans in this fandom who will surely provide everything you are looking for! And it's not like I will be gate-keeping any good sources, if I happen to come across a recording or something, I will definitely let you know. I'll just not go out of my way to invest any money, time or effort into any of it.

Last but not least, I completely agree with your thoughts about Keiko. All we can do is hope that this feud will someday be resolved, otherwise there will always be hostilities and conflicts of interest. As long as there are these two opposing sides and any allegiance to one side will get you shunned from the other side, we'll never know peace.

When I tell you that this fandom has been driving me nuts because of the way they treat Jeremy

They think Jeremy "coddles" Jean too much but honestly? He's the only one keeping an appropriate behavior with him. They're basically strangers, he knows he has no right to push, to be aggressive, to shame Jean. And he understands Jean in a way no other Trojan can

Do they think that if Jean gets pushed enough he'll magically ✨heal✨faster and they'll get to read some smut???? Well, that's not how it works sorry

The more you push someone like Jean, the more he feels backed into a corner. Then he can only shut down or lash out. Either way it's a hundred steps back in terms of actual healing. The less people push, the more Jean opens up

Jeremy got it right from the start (except for a few hiccups)

But such a big part of the fandom doesn’t see that. They are just too fixated on the original trilogy, where EVERYONE was brash and kind of brutal with each other (someone arrogant and inconsiderate like Kevin fits right in with the misfit Foxes, while the Trojans/Coach Rhemann would humble him so fast... now THAT's a story I'd love to see 👀 lol). So they see Jeremy's behavior as "coddling"... when it's just kindness and understanding

Honestly yeah . Pre TGR there was like this consensus that Jeremy was going to like strong arm and “soft Dom” Jean into healing, and it made 0 sense to me (and honestly frustrated me beyond belief) especially since Jeremy was so insistent that Jean’s healing wasn’t his business and Jean stated that he liked Jeremy bc Jeremy gave him boundaries. Also Jean never really seemed to bow to Jeremy so why ppl were so insistent that he would is beyond me.

After TGR I’ve seen a lot of takes that are annoyed Jeremy’s so much of a pushover and lackluster and doesn’t have a backbone but like … he does? U don’t have to be brash and brutal and an asshole to have a spine 😭.

I also agree 100%. The parallels between Jeremy and Jean let Jeremy understand him sm better than everyone else on the Trojans, and while there were some hiccups, he’s the only one handling this appropriately. Cat and Laila and Jeremy and the rest of the Trojans are all strangers to Jean, and the fact that cat and Laila felt so entitled to his trauma made me insane. Like they pushed and he pushed back , and kept refusing to give answers so much that Jeremy had to go a different route to get an answer by calling Kevin. (Even in this book, they tried to push, and Jean actually has to snap his fingers in Cat’s face at one point to get her to listen to him. And I know it’s after he’s been hurt but my god)

That’s why (and Ik this wasn’t in ur ask) but that scene where Laila says Jean can’t lie to them because they’re his people also kinda rubs me the wrong way? Because like 1.) he can’t lie bc he’s never been allowed to before and 2.) it’s more like they push and he gets angry enough to correct them. (Ex: I didn’t ask)

But back to ur ask I would love to see Rhemann go head to head with Kevin lol.

The OG Captains that inspired most of the fandoms main headcanons and lore were @briannacherrygarcia and @storywhisper. Bri-chan was the fanartist. Story was the fanfic writer.

There's many other talented fanfic authors and fan-artists!!! Gifs and Photography were a HUGE part of the fandom! People would make reaction gifs out of any and everything! A lot of shippy moments that were captured by these talented people made up a majority of the lore BCUZ THEY WERE OUR ONLY REFERENCE FOR CANON CHARACTERIZATION STUFF.

@briannacherrygarcia (she was an OG captain of the fandom🔥🔥🔥 absolutely iconic queen💅 she's moved on from the fandom but please be respectful and don't badger her with too much wonderland stuff)

@storywhisper (Story is another notable OG captain of the fandom 🔥🔥🔥 their fics were one of the backbones of the lore as well. You can also thank the Thackery/Dorchadas split personality for them as well!)

Hi anon, thanks for your ask! Great questions (really respect that you went for the meaty one right out of the gate there /pos). Let me start out by not answering your questions at all, and I’ll work my way up to some answers.

I’ve mentioned in other posts that I don’t have a concrete outline in place when I write. There are things that I know will happen in Asymmetrical Warfare, and things that I know absolutely will not. In between all of that, there’s wiggle room, a lot of wiggle room. Something that I love about writing fanfiction is that, to me, it’s this neat form of collaborative story telling. At it’s core, AW is my version of the batfam and the story I want to tell about them, but it’s very much influenced by readers and the fandom at large (mostly via its tumblr presence). Comments on ao3, asks on tumblr, random internet convos, the comics I read, all of it influences how I think about AW. (For example, Harm Reduction basically exists solely in response to ao3 comments.) It brings a complexity and richness to AW that wouldn’t be there if I was alone in a vacuum writing the ‘verse from start to finish.

So, how does that relate to your questions…

will there be a bruce-jason reunion?

I honestly don’t know. Most of AW has the ‘identity porn’ tag attached to it. The ‘identity reveal’ tag doesn’t start coming in to play until the end of what I have sketched out so far. When I think about what comes after that, it’s all fade to black. I can make an educated guess based on core character traits, what’s happened so far, and the fixed events/timepoints I know are coming. But, it’s still open to infinite possibilities. At least until the timeline advances further and more details get locked down. The Storm, the arc that comes after Territorial Disputes (the companion piece to Guerrilla Tactics), is a pretty big inflection point. It’s also, you know, not written yet. 😉

what was their dynamic before jason died?

The granular details here are still evolving in my mind, but it’s built on a backbone of a mixed pre- and post- crisis Bruce and Jason. Jason was adopted at 12. They had a father/son dynamic. Bruce was genuinely trying to be a good dad, and he succeeded a lot of the time. Things got rough later on in Jason’s teenage years.

does bruce treat jason as his greatest failure the way he did in comics?

I’m not sure if you’re referring to how Bruce treated Jason’s memory during the period while Jason was presumed dead in the comics, or how Jason is actually treated post his reappearance in the comics, but here’s what I’ll say with respect to the former and AW. The AW Batcave has a Robin memorial with a ‘good solider’ plaque on it. AW Tim is well versed in the dangers of being reckless via the object lesson that is Jason Todd. Sometimes, late at night, usually after a bottle of whiskey or a dose of the good painkillers, AW Bruce thinks about how his greatest failure in life is actually how he’s chosen to cope with the death of his son.

Instead events trigger memories from the future that he (& everyone else) thinks r visions. Madam yu becomes nice.

Later, I think it was on the battlefield which is why the exact timelime is confusing me, wwx gets shot with an arrow in his prosthetic. Jin zixuan is there, gets worried and wwx is forced to reveal that he lost a leg. Or it could've been just a foot idk.

Okay I haven’t made many posts with her included (which im gonna do 😂) but I LOVE Ayako

She’s very beautiful and i think in a way that’s unconventional compared to many mangas. Curly haired female characters are really uncommon in manga, so seeing a girl like ayako was really surprising. I think her features overall make her look really realistic. Like she looks morrocan or dominican, and the fact that she’s portrayed to be canonically beautiful makes it so that her features are portrayed in a positive light

Also she’s literally the backbone of the team? Part of why Miyagi stayed for hs basketball was because she encouraged the team so well. She’s been there since before the team was good, like how akagi and kogure were. And throughout the series, she gave the boys ALOT of support. Like girl was literally the one who taught Sakuragi the basics??

Sawakita is also very different from other sports manga rivals. I mean he gets made fun of by his own team, mf cries SM. He has fangirls and I think he treats them well (shown by how he wore a t shirt one of them gifted).

He’s not a bad person either, he even helped Rukawa up when he fell down. He was very encouraging towards his teammates too when he was benched. Honestly he seems like such a chill person to be friends with?? He seems so open minded, i fr cant see him as the type to judge anybody or treat anybody badly. I think at his school everyone likes him for how down to earth he is (and his looks LOLLL)

I've admired @ladderofyears' work for ages, and was thrilled when she agreed to give a rec. I fell in love with her rec and I know you will too!

First, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to thedrarrylibrarian, both for inviting me to write a rec for Happy Hour and for all the hard work they do. It’s often said that fic reccers are the backbone of fandom, but there’s never been a truer sentence. It certainly makes my day whenever I’m recced and I think it’s safe to say that most other writers feel the same.

Now, with no further ado, let me begin this week’s rec.

Dear Stranger by @iero0 (22,751 words, rated T)

The one thing more pointless than falling in love with an anonymous wizard over a correspondence is falling in love with Harry Potter when you’re Draco Malfoy.

The story I’ve chosen is Dear Stanger, written by my friend @iero0 as part of @hd-cluefest. This was a fest which featured mysteries, secrets and surprises and this story doesn’t disappoint on any level.

Draco Malfoy – living a sparse, quiet existence as a potion emporium owner – receives the first of a series of anonymous letters very soon after Valentine’s Day. He doesn’t know who their author is and, at first, is suspicious that someone is out to trick him or cause him trouble. However, the letters keep arriving, and as the months pass, they change his whole life for the better.

Okay, I hear you saying; that sounds like every epistolary story ever written. What makes this story so different? Why should you give it your time? My answer to that is Draco, whose perspective this story is written from. He is the beating heart of this fic, and his characterisation is flawless. This Draco, without a doubt, is the best one I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.

Life hasn’t always been easy for him. The Malfoy fortune and lands are long gone, and finding a job after the war wasn’t simple. After serving a long probation, he found work in a Knockturn potions shop, taking it over after the owner died. 

The Draco we meet when the fic opens isn’t the sarcastic, poised boy from Hogwarts; an existence of hard work, long hours, and caring for Narcissa has left him tightly wound, self-reliant and untrusting. He is touch-starved, and lonely. His days run through familiar routines, his friends have married and moved on, and seeing his mother each Sunday is his only excursion. 

However, as we all know, Draco was always gifted at brewing potions, and this fact hasn’t changed. Harry Potter – top Auror and father of three – visits every single week, picking up his prescription whilst exchanging only a few scant words with Draco.

As the letters arrive, we see the walls Draco has built around his world slowly start to crumble. Under the encouragement of his fellow letter writer, Draco starts to take better care of himself, starts to smile more often, and begins to believe he is of value to the world. He starts to see himself from the letter writer’s perspective and blossoms in the light of their affection.

When I first read this fic, I was breathless with hope. I wanted so much for Draco’s anonymous stranger to reveal himself and give them the happiness they both deserved. The ending, when it arrived, gave me everything I wanted and has lived in my head ever since. There isn’t a week that goes past where I don’t think about the Draco who lives in this story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I posted this a few other places, but was curious about your thoughts on it: The Scene starts with Rose inspecting a present someone left on her desk, wondering what's inside... only for it to blast open and smash a pie into her face, the sound of cruel laughter coming from behind her. She turns her head to see Marinette and Chloe, both decked out in gold, and asks why Marinette became so mean. Marinette's answer? "Because someone needs to keep little losers like you in their place!" Before moving in to kiss her girlfriend... and then Marinette wakes up screaming, wondering why she dreamed of dating Chloe of all people... and why the thought of being so cruel felt so right.

Meanwhile, across town, Chloe is experiencing a dream of her own. One in which she's no longer rich, and isn't particularly famous. One where she spends most of her days either keeping the house in good condition or helping her in-laws run the bakery. A simple life with a loving family, when her wife, Marinette walks through the door... carrying their daughter in her arms. She moves in to pull her wife into a kiss... and wakes up, blushing bright enough to be seen from space, and instantly going into denial that she would EVER want to be with Dupain-Cheng OR give up her wealth and influence... no matter how at home she felt in that little shop in her dreams.

To make a long story short, my thought is that both Marinette and Chloe are crushing hard on each other, in denial, and would gladly throw away their current lives if it meant being with the other. What do you think?

Hello! School is still a pain and my toothache isn't helping but it's alright, ask as much as you want. My doors are pretty much open at this point xD

I think that's what makes Chloenette my favorite ship in the series. They won't throw away all the life they built away (technically) but they would want to do everything that hey can to build a future for them.

Marinette growing a more firm and decisive backbone due to Chloé's influence is pretty much accepted within the chloenette fandom and I personally think it's great. Despite her growth (canonically...there still is) I don't see why she can't be a bit more aggressive in situations. Plus it's funny when Mari's being mean but also feeling kinda bad but satisfied later and Chloé's just proud and smug. 'That's my girl.'

Chloé Bourgeois, former heiress turned commoner found strolling Paris's park with up and coming fashion designer Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

I don't know if y'all have read the fics, but Tacomuerte's stories 'Best Frenemies' and 'Divided Loyalties' are one of the best portrayal of Chloé slowly settling down with Mari's lifestyle and Mari with Chloé's. Chloé is artistic (a bit perfectionist in a way as well) and I can definitely see her fussing and making sure all of the pastries are decorated to the tiniest of details and that every box doesn't have a single speck of dirt or crumpled. Baking also requires physical exertion especially in large orders so that's one way for her to let out some steam without causing an akuma xD.

They grew up with different backgrounds but I can see them having multiple common grounds aside from Fashion. One of them is their devotion and loyalty to people they like (in Chloé's case, people she genuinely respects and looks up to) which can get pretty aggressive and sometimes obsessive (obsessive chloenette is a fave).

Basically, yeah, I can see them doing a lot of unexpected things just to be together and to build a future they both want and need.

Humid was the air on this land, almost like one would jump into a pot of boilin' stew. It almost felt impossible to breathe at times, many of 'em outlaws seekin' shelter under the confines of tree leaves, some optin' for minimum amount of layers to cover their bodies. Terrible damn weather.

One of 'em outlaws, 'spite the rather unpleasant conditions, still decided to sit in here and scrawled like an angry, bad man that he can be, his large hand holdin' his pen in a tight grip, its tip runnin' in quick strokes. His brows were pulled down, creating a fresh pairs of wrinkles on his sweaty forehead. One of the fellow members of his gang, whose mouth ain't ever stopped runnin', had a lot of things to say 'bout today's action in the town, criticising his alleged lack of backbone. Fuckin' moron; one who'd rather come in 'n watch everyone's brains splatter all over the walls, at times leaving one wondering whether the numbers matter to him only in terms of money, or with the numbers in question being 'bout casualities. The higher the amount for both, the better he felt, one would assume. The cowboy's fingers stroked over slicked strands of blonde hair as he sighed deeply. He ain't got the patience for the bastard, and he's come to realise that it is indeed better for the sake of keepin' it together if he'd ignore him. After all, at the end of the day, the moron's gettin' real kick out of it. He's just a waste of breath, waste of space, waste of mind, waste of food, waste of... 

Alright, maybe he will focus on appreciating the wildlife, instead. 

After he was done with givin' his frustrations a little outlet, rather than a bullet to the previously mentioned fella's head, he turned the page, and opted for drawing, a particular hare catching the man's attention. It didn't move, so it proved to be a perfect opportunity for him to drown in the world of, uh... bunnies. It's better than causin' more fuss.

Not so long later, a gentle padding of boots against the ground reached the man's trained ears; however, suspecting that it's just one of the gang members passin' by, he didn't bother lookin' up, having found nothing close to eagerness for conversation. At some moment, soft footfall stilled on the grass, right next to him, what he assumed could be someone waitin' for him to speak.

'What is it?' he inquires, rugged voice rasping out, in a manner which one might find threatening, blue eyes remaining set straight on the paper in front of him. The answer, however, has never been granted to him, deepening the scowl on his face. Leaving the questions hangin' in the air was always a lil' bit of a burden. 'Whaddya-'

With a turn of his head, his sight is welcomed by a particular person, a new... rather small member of their gang, leaving cowboy's face scribbled with bewilderment. She stood there, her height barely reaching past his reclined form, her facial structure being an epitome of innocence. Tiny hands clasped right in front of herself, her head bowed like one of a fawn's. 

'If that ain't... hey,' he greeted, having cleared his throat. 'I, uh... You want somethin'?' The outlaw fixed his expression almost immediately, opting to give a child a smile which oozed warmth and safety, almost forgetting 'bout whatever the hell's been on his mind just a second ago. He wouldn't want to scare the youngling with a a mean look; 'specially since he was able to see her own cheeks roundin' up into a bashful smile itself. She couldn't have been livin' here on this earth for longer than five years, though he cannot tell with them kids. What he knows is that the man has a special set of behaviours reserved for small folks like her, and that the poor thing needs friendly faces to get accustomed to. He is a terrible man, one that kills, one that beats people up and robs the hell outta 'em, but he didn't have the heart to just be another mean bastard when it came to children.

There's a case of her peculiarity that everyone's been rackin' their brains about. First, the kid didn't speak. No one was able to come up with the reason; she seemed to hear just fine, although she merely responded with a glance; if she bothered sparing one, which brings another aspect. It could always been 'bout the fact that she were a little one, nevertheless, eye contact proved to be challenging for her; her gaze always averting as soon as someone returned her own. It left several members wondering about the history behind this quiet girl, other than the tragic circumstances surrounding her discovery. For now, they opted to making the child feel like at home. She hadn't got anyone else to turn towards, with the The Outlaw finding the lost youngling alongside the Leader of the gang a few months back. Her wailing, and a couple of lifeless bodies were enough backstory for them to come to a conclusion that the poor child was utterly alone in this harsh world.

With that, the man suddenly realised that it is the first time he's able to see the colour of her eyes, the curious lookers taking in the sight of a journal in his hands; more specifically, scribbles he had done a few days back when he was on his journey through the forests of West Elizabeth; as the pages turned when he wasn't holding them in place. He always had it with him, this journal; something about the world around him capturing his interest everytime, with paper providing space for his thoughts, or even doin' as much as letting him capture quickly what he had seen. Interestingly shaped trees, wonderfully coloured flowers, animals; funny lookin' or not, always ended up finding their own place in his journal. It ain't like he shared it with anyone, it was after all so personal to the man. A child, however, was enamoured by little drawings he did, fascinated by the details of a wild hare on a page, her tiny mouth slightly open. With one last glance at the man, she hesitatantly took a step towards him, with an expectant gaze, her finger pointed towards the small patch of grass next to him. 

'You, uh...' The Cowboy repeats her gesture awkwardly. '... Wanna sit with me?' No response aside from an endearing tilt of her head, as if he were lookin' at a pup. He found himself unable to resist a gentle laugh, even if he were quite unsure of how to go on about with this one. Something 'bout this youngling just had him in her tiny grasp; that much was clear. She needed someone to make her feel safe, having her childhood ruined in such a cruel manner. Warmth washed over him; because it truly is the first since she were able to hold the eye contact with him, as if she were finally opening herself up. 'Alright, come here, Lil' one.'

Perhaps, it will be best if he were to repeat himself, that's for sure. In an inviting manner his large hand moved, tapping it against the green ground next to him, the seat she eagerly took. 

'Ah... Look at you, comin' outta your shell, yeah?' He encouraged further, with the toddler glancing up at the man's face once more, with a small giggle. Then what follows... Silence. As usual. A nod of his head, and he thinks for a moment, feeling her stare on him. "What should he do?", he wonders, scratching his rough chin as he tries to think of ways he could entertain the child... While she ran tiny fingers over the clean sheet of paper, as if she found the texture rather fascinating. Ah, well, it... it's his... Well, private belonging or whatever, but it ain't like the kid will steal his journal and run away with it, no. She is very polite when she makes a bashful gesture of her hand, as if to ask him if she may hold it, if she can use the sheets of paper, and something about it just melts his cold heart, devoid of any kindness, or so, as he likes to believe...

'Here you go,' he said simply, the journal traversing through his hands to her own, because for how long can he resist his paternal instinct, the one he thought had died a long time ago? He's a bad man, he thinks. The youngling skips over the pages with words, a natural instinct to be more drawn towards the pictures of flowers he'd made.

'My, a real connoisseur of art,' the man laughed, but the girl haven't looked up at him, her eyes observing the sketch of a deer with intrigue. 'Not like I'm, uh... any artist or somethin'...' He was a tad awkward, that's for damn sure. He was a rugged outlaw after all, a terrible man, robber and a killer of the worst sort. Seein' small folk like her just makes him... Wonder what makes a little pup like her want to hang around with him. 

After a moment, the child looks up at him with a bashful look on her face, almost apologetic in a way. Her hand slightly raised to her face, tapping her finger against it. Oh.

Suddenly, it all makes sense now. 

The outlaw cleared his throat; right.

She ran into an empty page, rubbing her round nose with fingers deep in thought, before her eyes peeked into the pen in his hand, gaze that the Outlaw followed with utmost attention. He didn't know what to think, it ain't like... Ah, those damn children. 

'Wanna, uh... draw? Scribble a little?' His speech was slow, giving her the time to observe the movements of his lips. The pen was raised, its tip drawing circles in the air, while he pointed at the journal in the child's hand. Trying his best to make an attempt at finding a different way to speak and help her understand his intentions, past the verbal communication, he saw the child next to him lighting up all of sudden, a reaction that got him smilin'. Smilin' to a point where his cheeks hurt. She perked up, like little, baby deer, and it took all his strength to not melt as her tiny fingers took the extended pen out of his large hand.

This precious thing was overjoyed, that much he could see. It's like the pen transferred an energy that's been waitin' for its release since the day she was born. The child doodled, using the simplest shapes to portray different creations of nature. A big tree on the left, with a sizeable flower that reached half of its height; a smiling cat with three whiskers on each side of its muzzle, probably havin' in mind a feline that she may have seen at some point in her life; equally just as big, and a little house. The Outlaw, normally, wouldn't have it within him to just let someone scribble all over his belonging, but god damn it. It's a child. Ain't like they got much paper lyin' around for free use. If that means seein' a the little duckling happy, so be it...

The man saw a red squirrel running right in front of them, stoppin' every once in a while to check the surroundings. And of course, he didn't have the heart to stop the little artist in the heat of her passion, but he couldn't let the opportunity for her to see the curious animal just pass! He nudged the girl gently, just on her arm, and pointed at the rodent that tried to jump over the tree. It took her a moment, her eyes being squinted in focus, before relaxing when she saw it. 

'Look'at it go, almost as tiny as you!' The man laughed gently, lookin' down at her once more, seein' that she's already traced the lines which resemble the squirrel; the girl havin' made sure to emphasize long ears and fluffy tail. The animal on the paper was almost as huge as the cat next to it. He's a bad man, and yet, he couldn't resist the smile that's been plastered on his face for a good few minutes now. She may not have been as expressive as other children he'd see, but when the baby giggled, when her lips curled up, or even when she did as much as she scrunched her nose in focus; warmth washed over his cold, cold and, once again, cold heart. It's like the girl melted it, and stole it, the precious little thing she was, paternal instincts resurfacing within him once more.

And then; just like that, he saw a sketch, and his eyes widened slightly. On a page he sees a drawing of a person... A man with a beard, a hat on his head, with a scarf wrapped aroung his neck, and the widest damn smile on his face, like the one of a fool's. The Outlaw wiped his mustache, taking into his hands the journal she had extended to him, with that expectant look on her face. She waited for that nod of approval, needing it more than anything at this moment; an approval that he, this rugged man, granted. Of course, he knew who that fella on the page was; it were him, or, how the toddler saw him as. A big fella with a hat, who smiles at her widely. He wasn't an outlaw to her, or a goddamn cowboy. To the girl, he was just a nice man who let her draw in his journal, who kept her safe from dangers of cruel world, which took her childhood. Possibly the first person she had approached on her own ever since she found herself in the gang. 

And that is something he couldn't wrap his head around. How is it possible, that he; a person so terrible as he is, was the one that this kid somehow wasn't threatened by?

And god, why was he smiling so much? He cannot tell. 

What he can tell, however, he hasn't done that for so long. 

And that her own smile, he wants to protect.

Permanent Roleplay Ad

Hello there! If you're reading this, you probably looked up something concerning a roleplay ad- specifically, in the MHA fandom. Though- you might've just stumbled upon it (or be a follower of mine). I figure I may as well update the permanent RP Ad I have hanging around on my blog, so...!

My name is Writer. As of April 9th, 2025, I am 24 years old- I identify as nonbinary, and this ad is currently closed (feel free to check back!). I will not roleplay with anyone under the age of eighteen, as I do prefer like to delve into adult topics from time to time in my RPs. From thoughts of suicide, to abuse in varying forms, to smut, so on, so forth.

I'm not against roleplaying on Discord, Google Docs, or G-Mail, but I do prefer to make some type of Discord server, regardless of where the RP itself takes place. This is so I have a place to organize thoughts and reach out OOC, without interrupting the RP itself.

Please note that I am going to be very selective about this. While I do sincerely want to do a double-up RP in MHA, I am not going to run into it full-tilt, 'anything goes'.

This whole RP is a double-up. That means I portray a character for you, you portray a character for me. If that's not to your liking, then...is what it is, best of luck in your search! I favor romance heavily, so this will basically be two ships in an RP.

Requirements

In terms of literacy, I am personally a bit of a user of purple prose. I may wax poetic from time to time, or stick strictly to the facts- it really depends on how the scene's going, as well as how my brain is handling things! I prefer 6-8 paragraphs per side as a minimum, though it's fine if that minimum drops, if there's nothing that you want to add in particular- so long as the RP is moved along, and it's not just you throwing all of the RP's backbone onto me (or vice versa), I'm gucchi! I would, however, gently request that (no matter what), the RP doesn't fall below three paragraphs per side, at the very lowest.

My preferred genre when it comes to writing is romance, and action. I love my fluffy romantic shit- and I also adore combat and fight scenes, in equal measure! Beyond that, I'm a fan of adventure and fantasy- both of which MHA has in spades. In terms of reply speed, I prefer to answer once a day, up to once a week if I've hit a snag or my energy is low. I would like if this could be matched, though I won't fault you taking your time! We all have lives outside of RP- as I always say, 'IRL above RP'. A heads-up would be nice, but it is not necessary by any stretch.

I do personally roleplay a very specific AU of My Hero Academia, which will have its own section where it will be explained. For now, know that it is a soulmate AU. If you're interested, feel free to skip and read the 'Verse Specifics' section, then come back!

In terms of NSFW/Adult Content, I do enjoy writing smut scenes from time to time. I will not portray any NSFW between any minor ships. I am perfectly fine trading that off for more fluff scenes if the other ship is two kids/teens, but I do politely request that my ship/side have a bit of NSFW. If that's not your jam,...then...don't send me a message? Don't respond to this ad? All the business.

Please be fully literate in the English language. A spelling/grammar mistake every now and again is fine, but I don't like roleplaying with those who have replies absolutely overflowing with spelling/grammar mistakes. No offense is intended, that's just not my style, nor my wish. I do hope that you're also a purple prose writer, though- since writing a character's emotions, how they're feeling, etc., etc., is my preference. I don't like writing just plain actions.

In terms of romance speed, I'm a personal fan of a quickburn. Love at first sight, butterflies, you name it- that is my bread and butter. I won't force that on your ship, though I will say I just cannot portray a slowburn to save my life. I can do either medium or fast, so if you prefer slower,...the slowest I can offer is a mediumburn. I will request that my side (YagiFin) be a quickburn.

Verse Specifics

The Soulmate AU I’ve crafted starts with one of the base ideas of a generic Soulmate AU - the first Words your soulmate will ever say to you (if you have any) are written somewhere on your body, in your soulmate’s native language and specific handwriting. These Words are pitch-black until spoken to the target, and once spoken, they will glow- until the target realizes who their Soulmate is. One cannot die until their Words have glowed, so there are some who are incredibly reckless as a result. There are some who wander the world, their Words having been glowing for years- but with no idea as to who their Soulmate is.

The Words begin to feel as though they are burning if a Soulmate is in danger- it can range from a faint uncomfortable sensation to an intense agony, like one is being branded or cut through with a blazing knife (the strength of the burning sensation depends on the danger the Soulmate is in, with life-threatening being the most painful). Any injuries that occur to one’s Soulmate’s Words can be felt by the other person, on their Words. Words are also located in generally the same location, and Soulmates can be polycules or couples, or anything in between- and range from romantic to platonic.

To meet your Soulmate is to have your stats suddenly see an increase- though it isn’t always the best. Heroes have been tied with Civilians. Villains have been tied with Heroes. Soulmates of powerful or important individuals (if an important individual has a Soulmate) have to be careful due to the target on their back, since if your Soulmate dies, so do you. It’s not an immediate death- but within the course of a month, if one’s Soulmate has died… They will wither away as well, the speed at which it occurs depending on their willpower, but none who have Soulmates survive beyond a month after their Soulmate’s death.

Sections of Hero Agencies have been dedicated to protecting Pro Heroes’ Soulmates, and kidnappings have been known to happen when a Villain finds their Soulmate. Civilian pairings are the safest- but by no means happen all the time. Some think the Words are a curse, but there is no way to remove them.

There are also some Quirks that are Soulmate-centric, and thus do not affect those without Soulmates.

Toshinori Yagi has spent years keeping All Might’s Soulmate tie a secret. He made sure his costume’s sleeves were long enough that no one would ever see the two simple Words written there- dodging questions about having a Soulmate every chance he could. He’d never met them, his Words pitch-black… Two simple Words, in scratchy English: Oh, hi!

He could never let anyone know All Might had a Soulmate. The target that would be painted on such an individual… They would never survive.

In the base variant, Toshinori’s stat increase was that his timer as All Might doubled, and even after episode 49 of the anime/his fight with AfO, he can technically turn into All Might for a few minutes at a time- but his power is still greatly diminished. Diminished far too much for him to continue his work as a Hero, though it does help in split-second circumstances, if he burns through what few minutes he has in a momentary burst of strength. I am open to the blond receiving other 'stat increases', but that will need to be discussed.

Fin’s stat increase was a general increase to their strength, speed, and stamina to near superhuman levels- they can lift up to 550lbs after meeting All Might, and run up to 24mph (though it takes a little bit to get to that speed). Their Quirk remained as it was, with no noticeable increase- though at the time that Fin met Yagi, they didn’t know ‘Quirkless’ meant something a little more when it came to them.

Generally, when I RP in this AU, one of my first questions for others about their ships is: What Words they want their ship to have, and where. This helps immensely in setting up the starter.

NOTE: There is an alternate take on the Soulmate AU, which you can add somewhere in request as the 'Intense Soulmate AU', if you are interested/would prefer this variant. Soulmates (while they still have the Words and the boost and everything of the base AU) are also able to feel a lowered version of their other half's emotions/physical pain, instead of just being limited to feeling a burn when their soulmate is in danger/feeling pain inflicted upon the other half's Words.

I am also fine doing an AU where U. A. is a college instead of a high school. It adds some extra layers to the students' lives, and I like thinking about what students have what jobs (if they didn't get in on scholarships/recommendations).

Extra Stuff

It would be nice if our characters were aware of each other! Whether it's two OCs and two canons, or three canons and one OC, I do enjoy writing it so Fin has a friendship with the other party- that way, both of our ships can cheer one another on! It's fun. Definitely not required, especially if the personalities don't mesh, but it's just an enjoyable thought I like employing.

The RP will always start up towards the very start of the series- literally, the starting point for Yagi and Fin is a few days after the entrance exams. I like to RP through the series from the top, each time I do partake in all this chaos- I also enjoy incorporating every movie (if at all possible) into the RP, depending on how far I get. So- be ready! I do try to keep a running timetable of the RP. I can play relatively fast and loose at times, but I do like keeping in mind that certain events happened at certain times. I'm not against meandering between major events (in fact, I encourage it), just know that (like real life) time is a resource- and it will dwindle.

I will not do RPs that are particularly angst-heavy. I don't care for relationships that involve a lot of miscommunication/abuse/etc., and I will end the RP if I feel the characters are sliding towards (or in) a bad relationship. I prefer my ships be fluffy- let the pain come from outside sources. It's them against the world! I am not against all forms of angst, though- after all, fluff n' smut can't exist in a vacuum.
